Issue 288 – Frome does its bit for Children In Need

Frome joined in the fun and frivolities happening all around the country for Children in Need last Friday, the 30th anniversary of the event.

Schools, businesses, and individuals did their bit to boost funds for the BBC’s annual appeal, with the appeal raising over £20m – just short of last year’s total.
Children and teachers at Christ Church First School joined in with the fun. Everyone at the school got involved in a number of special activities, all raising money for disadvantaged children and young adults across the UK. The school came up with the novel idea of creating a giant Pudsey bear from their donations: pupils brought in their spare change to make up the iconic bear in the school hall. Many teachers also baked cakes with a teddy theme to sell, and everyone brought in their teddy bears.
Frome’s Asda store also joined in, raising over £800 for Children In Need, with money still being collected. Colleagues got involved by dressing up with spots, pyjamas or as childrens characters! Pudsey stayed at the store all day and enjoyed meeting all the children who came in.
