Issue 299 – Glitz and glam for third FAOS awards

The glitz and glamour of Broadway arrived at the Standerwick Centre, near Frome, on Saturday 17th April for the Frome Amateur Operatic Society’s annual awards giving ceremony.

Around 150 people attended the event, which saw members of the group receive awards for their performances over the past year.
To tie in with the group’s forthcoming production of ‘Annie’, the ceremony embraced an American theme – including a ten foot statue of the character Uncle Sam.
Andrew Carpenter, chair of FAOS said, “This was the third awards event. They were started as the society has become so big now, with five productions a year, it is good to reward the hard work.
“Whilst they’re very meaningful, everybody in the society plays an important role in making it as successful as it is.
“As chairman I would like to congratulate all those who were nominated for awards, as well as those who won awards. The society would like to thank the sponsors for this year’s awards too.”
