Issue 336 – Successful launch for church transformation

‘Transforming Trinity, Transforming Lives’ – that is the name of an ambitious project which was launched at Holy Trinity Church, Frome on Saturday 17th September to transform the interior of the church.

The church dates from the beginning of the Victorian period and although it has served its purpose well, the interior is now in urgent need of renewal.
Several years of research, discussion, planning, prayer and collaboration with an experienced and creative architect have led to the development of a vision for total transformation, which will create a light, airy, properly heated, and flexible space whilst also respecting the Victorian heritage. The designs were unveiled by the vicar, Revd Graham Owen, at the beginning of the evening which was attended by 130 – 140 people including the Mayor of Frome.
The presentation was followed by a buffet supper and an auction of over 80 items and promises. A huge range of things were on offer: jars of homemade jam to the use of a holiday home; ironing and help with shopping to tickets for rugby and football matches. The church was most grateful to local businesses and all who supported the event, especially Martin Hemmet who did a wonderful job as auctioneer.
Around £5,000 was raised during the evening, an excellent start to the campaign to raise the funds necessary to turn the vision into reality.
