Issue 346 – Panel set for Question Time 2 Saxonvale debate

MORE members have been added to the panel for Frome’s second Question Time-style event, which will focus only on the controversial Saxonvale site.
The site has been a topic for discussion in Frome since it was announced that development group, St James Investments, a company linked to Tesco, had allegedly expressed interest in Saxonvale.

On the panel, two sides of the Saxonvale debate will be represented by Frome for All and Keep Frome Local.
Frome for All suggest including a supermarket in the town centre development and Keep Frome Local have spoken against Tesco coming into the town, but favour a smaller store instead.
Members of the panel are; chair, Andrew Lee; Frome Town Council representative Mayor of Frome cllr Nick White; Chamber of Commerce representative Peter Gray-son; representative from Keep Frome Local, Guardian journalist John Harris; and representative from Frome For All Michael Rhodes. It is understood that a representative from St James Investments may be approached to complete the panel.
Cllr James Godman, one of the organisers of the event said, “The purpose of Question Time is to provide greater opportunities for the residents of Frome and the wider community to become more involved in local government and local decision making.
“Question Time will bring debating from the council, the pub, and your friends and through your businesses into an interactive live space through this use of modern multi-media.
“New councillors really want to have a closer, more transparent engagement with residents as elected individuals here to serve the community.
“Question Time will be streamed live to the public through live TV, web-cast and radio.”
Those attending the event will be able to submit their questions, and questions will also be taken via twitter.
• Question Time 2 will take place at Wesley Church on Tuesday 6th of March at 8.00pm.
