Frome’s first community fair a roaring success

Frome held its first community fair on Sunday 11th March. Over 50 local voluntary organisations packed into the Cheese and Grain hall to share with each other what they do, explore the benefits from pooling resources and showcase to the public the work they do.The event was also a chance for voluntary groups to explore whether they would be eligible to apply for a local grant. The Frome Development CIC, the Frome Lottery as well as Frome Town Council gave presentations and held surgeries to inform anyone about their grants. Town cllr Peter Macfadyen said, “It is amazing to me that there are so many people in the town doing so much excellent voluntary work. This fair enabled them to come together, pool resources and share good practice. The town council is generating a voluntary group database to make sure anyone who could not come to the fair will still benefit. This will be placed on the town council’s website very soon.“We’d like anyone who runs a group of any kind to contact the town council with their details as soon as possible.” Frome Town Council, tel: 01373 465757 –
