“Fantastic” fun day tribute to pet shop colleague
A FAMILY fun day that was organised by a Frome pet shop in memory of their popular colleague, Ron Bond, has been hailed as a “fantastic, fitting tribute.”
Hundreds of people turned out to the Frome Pet and Aquatic Centre family fun day on Saturday 4th of August.
Funds raised on the day will go towards Ron’s favourite charity, the Bath Cats and Dogs Home.
The event included a raffle with aquatic prizes, competitions for children, hunt the goldfish treasure hunt, homemade cakes,
Lisa Carter from Frome Pet and Aquatic Centre said, “We’re not sure how much was raised yet, but it was certainly in the hundreds of pounds.
“It was a fantastic, fitting tribute to Ron, the day couldn’t have gone better.
“Thank you to everyone who supported the events, thank you to the staff and everyone that dressed up and thank you to our suppliers for donating raffle prizes.”

Frome fundraiser, Tony Hodges, is decorating his house again for Christmas and is this year promising a festive light display that will ‘steal’ your breath away! Last year, Tony wowed the crowds with his gingerbread house-themed display, raising over £1,000 for charity. And whilst this year’s theme is being kept under wraps until the big reveal on Saturday 4th December, Tony has hinted that his display will have others ‘green’ with envy. To celebrate the unveiling of his Christmas lights display, Tony is hosting a switch-on event on Saturday 4th December, from 7pm, with the big reveal at 7.15pm at his home – 26 The Butts, Frome, BA11 4AA. There will be live music, food on sale, a raffle, and some very special guest appearances that will get children, young and old, excited.![]()
