OLYMPIC athlete Craig Figes helped children at Christ Church First School open their new classrooms and additional facilities last week.
Craig Figes, TeamGB’s men’s water polo captain at the London 2012 Olympics, cut the ribbon on Thursday 11th July in a ceremony at the school.
He also presented children with medals, to reward them for creating and working to their own aims and aspirations in the ‘Be the best you can be’ campaign. The programme as designed to help young people recognise and fulfil their potential in the wake of the London2012 games.
With £1million captial investment from Somerset County Council, the school now has four brand new classrooms, new toilet facilities, a new entrance and office, new staff room, and new library. It has also remodelled some of the internal spaces and constructed a new outdoor area.
