SOMERSET Care held their annual awards ceremony on 26th September at the Somerset County Cricket Ground, Taunton, at which seven members of staff and one volunteer from Frome were honoured.

Over 180 guests, including award winners and their families, attended the event at which staff were recognised for their long service and special achievements. In total the ceremony celebrated 655 years of long service, with one staff member celebrating 40 years. In addition to long service, presentations were made to staff members who had been nominated by their fellow colleagues for their special achievements, with an Overall Winner being announced in each category.

Staff members Patricia Chucoski, Patricia Vowell and Laraine Heath from Rowden House; Andrea Stevenson, Rachel Abbott and Shirley Linham from Mendip Community Services were honoured at the event. Sarah Hastie also from Mendip Community Services was presented with an Overall Winners Award in the category of ‘Care and Support Worker’ and Julie Line was presented with the Overall Winners Award in the category of ‘Volunteers’ for her contribution to Critchill Court.

Attendees heard speeches from Alyson Martin, chief executive, Eoin Keogh, director of care services, Susan Baverstock, group head of HR and training and Chris Davies, chairman.

Speaking at the ceremony, chief executive Alyson Martin said, “It is wonderful to see so many of our staff members being honoured for their commitment and dedication to Somerset Care. It has been a lovely day and a pleasure to be able to celebrate the achievements of our staff.”

Somerset Care is one of the largest not-for-profit healthcare providers in Southern England. The company provides over 39,000 hours of community care every week of the year to people in their own homes in 15 local authority areas, and through their residential care services they operate 32 care homes which provide residential and nursing care for over 1,550 residents.
