Susan Gatward from the Kumon Centre with David Gatward and Selwood School Pupils dressed as Wizard of Oz characters in preparation for the Guiness World Record Attempt 2014
DON’T miss out is the message from organisers of Frome’s world record attempt.
People are being urged to sign up and return their registration forms as soon as possible if they want to be part of Frome’s effort to break a world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Wizard of Oz characters.
The Guinness World Record currently stands at 446 people and Frome’s attempt will take place on Sunday 13th July as part of the Frome Festival. People will NOT be able to sign up on the day so anyone wishing to join in needs to sign up NOW!
As well as individuals being encouraged to sign up, so are local schools. The world record attempt team have been touring schools across Frome giving assemblies explaining when the challenge is taking place, what it involves and how the children and teachers can get involved. The team is still available to visit schools but they need to sign up quick!
Susan Gatward from the Kumon Centre who are sponsoring the event said, “The schools we have visited have been very enthusiastic and children are asking how they can sign up. This is a great chance to not only be part of a world record attempt, but also to raise money for local schools as the £1 registration fee will go towards books for schools.
“The assemblies have been very well received as they learn more about the Wizard of Oz. We talked to years five and six at Selwood School recently who loved the idea, but it is open to any ages. The message to schools and individuals is sign up now and get your registration form in as you don’t want to miss out on becoming a world record holder!”
Registration forms can now also be found at the Cheese and Grain box office. Registration costs £1 and the money raised will buy books for local schools.
Full details, movie clips, information, and the opportunity to register, can all be found on the website at www.funtodressup.co.uk. Registration forms can also be picked up from Absolutely Fabulous Costume Hire at 20 Bath Street, Kumon Frome Study Centre at 4 Palmer Street and Millie Moon in Catherine Hill. Alternatively send a stamped address envelope to World Record c/o Frome Times, 31 Market Place, Melksham, Wiltshire. SN12 6ES
