Do you know the value of your violin? Find out in Frome at The Archangel

New auction house Amati ( are hosting a free valuation day at The Archangel on the 25th July, and are encouraging people to bring their stringed instruments to find out how much they are worth.

In a previous valuation day Amati discovered a rare and beautiful cello by Cremonese luthier Nicola Bergonzi, dating back to around 1780, which was valued at £300,000 much to the owner’s surprise.

Amati have enjoyed success with their Amati Exhibitions, which bring together musicians and industry experts.  Amati are also collaborating with charities Music Fund and London Music Masters to encourage donations of unsold instruments.

The roadshow across the UK is building up to the next auction view and exhibition at the Lansdowne Club in Mayfair, held on the 26th and 27th October, ahead of the online auction on 28th October.  Owners of special finds will have the opportunity to have their instruments featured at Amati’s Exhibition in Mayfair, and also the chance for their instrument to appear in Amati’s online auction.

The event at the Archangel on 25th July will be open from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
