36 teams of four golfers took part in the Frome Lions Charity Golf day held at Orchardleigh Golf Course on Friday 16th May.

The 144 golfers played to support the Forever Friends Appeal at the Royal United Hospital to help build a new pioneering Cancer Centre.

The grand sum of £5,500 was raised and will help towards the Appeal’s target of £8.5 million (33 / 66% partnership between The Appeal and RUH). The Lions Club of Frome have chosen to support the RUH Cancer Care Campaign because they believe that those around them in Frome and surrounding areas will benefit from the exciting new Centre.

Chairman of the Golf Committee, Keith McLeod commented, “Our Club are thrilled to help such a worthy local cause, not only will our efforts help to build this new Cancer Centre which is much needed to replace the old shabby facilities, the project will help patients, relatives and friends relax in a far better environment, they deserve.

“The Golf Day was a huge success, we all played in glorious sunshine on a course that had been specially prepared for the Somerset County Championships, so our thanks to Peter Holloway and his staff for the great conditions and hospitality.
