Unbeaten Frome U15s win league with ease

Frome CC U15s have won the Bath and District Youth League 2014 and stayed unbeaten all season.

After matches against Hinton Charterhouse and Hampset 1 were rained off, Frome kick started the season with a 97 run away win at Hampset 2 on the 12th May. Joe S was agonisingly run out on 99, and he was supported by Aaron W who hit 27 as Frome hit 157-5. In response, Hampset never looked likely as they only reached 60-8 off their 20 overs- Mike W picked up two wickets.

In the next match against Keynsham A at Fromefield Joe hit 65 and Isaac W added 28. Taylor A took 3 wickets, and Arthur H claimed two as Frome successfully defended 134 by 16 runs.

A trip to Timsbury at the start of June saw a 57 run win. Jake B and Isaac W hit 31, while Mike W claimed three wickets and Dan W two.  The trip to Keynsham (B) saw Isaac W smash 106 as Frome posted 188-3. Dan W then claimed 3 wickets as Frome won by 72 runs.

Aaron W hit 43 against Midsomer Norton at Fromefield. In this tight encounter, Dan W, Mike W and Alex (who along with Hugo stepped in for this match) were the only wicket takers with one each as Frome won by 13 runs.  Joe S hit a great 100 against Purnell, and Ethan C, Tom W and Arthur H claimed two wickets each. The victory margin was 91.

As the season moved into July, Frome played their final away match at Bridlington 2. Jake B hit an unbeaten 77 and Joe S hit 70 not out, while Miles K contributed 18. Ethan cleaned up their opener and then a brace of wickets from Tom W saw Frome winners by 105 runs.

In Frome’s final match of the season against Beck/Rode/NSP, Frome posted their best total of the year: 194-3. Joe yet again hit runs; another hundred went to his name. Isaac W hit 50 not out.  Mike W got 3 wickets for just 3 runs off 4 overs!  Dan W, Tom W and Taylor A got one each. Aaron W got 2, as the final ball of the season saw the batsmen bowled- a fitting end to a brilliant season, as they won the last game by 98 runs.

Frome U15s finished 1st; played 11: 8x wins, 3x cancelled
