Tim presents Crysse with her award
Local writer Crysee Morrison has been celebrating after winning the inaugural Bard of Frome competition following the hotly-fought final during the Frome Festival.
The sell-out final had seen 29 entries on the theme of comedy, whittled down to just seven.
Crysee’s play ‘The Muffin Man’, drew many laughs from the packed audience at the Old Bath Arms and was a popular winner.
In second place came Phil Pearson, a writer from Barrow-in-Furness with his comedy ‘Stick With Me Kid,’ whilst another local writer, Glynn Carpenter, came narrowly third with his play ‘The Read Through.’
The top three were presented by MC on the night, Tim O’Connor.
Special thanks to the director Marc Cox and his troupe of actors for their hard work in bringing to life all the plays and well done to all the finalists.
The top three plays will now be specially recorded for a future Flying Cows radio show performance. In addition, Crysee as the Bard of Frome, has also been given honorary membership of the Frome Writers Collective in recognition of her win.
Competition organiser, Tim O’Connor, would like to thank all those who entered. He said, “There were some lovely plays but alas only one could win. We’ve had such a fantastic response that the Bard of Frome looks set to become a fixture in the calendar. See you next year….”
