The sun shone at ‘Frome-on-Sea’!

Frome’s day at the beach!

On the first weekend in August, 10,000 people flocked to Frome, to come to the seaside … no really!

The Frome Independent bought the beach to Frome, with Frome on Sea, and rather than sit in long traffic queues to visit the coast, Frome people flocked to the market.

Visitors travelled from as far as London, Devon and the South East to enjoy the day, which saw part of the market yard car park transformed into a mini beach, with lots of attractions for the children.

Market coordinator, Tabitha Clayson said, “We are thrilled that Frome-on-Sea was a resounding success with visitors and traders alike. We constantly strive to be more than a market, not only by showcasing a selection of the highest quality traders from Frome and the South West, but also by giving visitors young and old a day out that is more than just great shopping and can feature art, music or in this case, a slice of seaside fun.”

Children were able to enjoy a ride on the donkey and create boats to float in the paddling pool boating lake whilst  enjoying a spot of delicious lunch.

Tabitha added, “A number of traders have reported their best ever takings and our event management consultant estimates that we had in excess of 10,000 visitors which is equal to the Christmas market last year, which was our most popular market ever. Feedback from visitors has been unbelievably enthusiastic with literally hundreds of positive comments on Facebook and Twitter.

“And the sunshine was the icing on the cake.”
