Police ask for help to recover £1,500 mountain bike

Avon and Somerset Constabulary are seeking the public’s help to find a £1,500 men’s mountain bike taken from the centre of Frome.

The bike – a Giant XTC composite carbon fibre frame was taken from outside a property in High Street on Tuesday 19th August shortly before midday.

The suspect is described as white male, about 6ft tall and in his 30s. He was wearing a burgundy coloured hooded top.

He got on the bike and cycled down High Street towards the town centre before turning into Wine Street. The thief may then have cycled down Sheppards Barton and on to Catherine Street or gone through an alleyway towards Rook Lane.

People who may have seen the suspect on the bike might have noticed that it had a flat rear tyre.

The police are keen to hear from anyone who may be offered the bike – a Giant XTC composite men’s mountain bike which has a silver/grey coloured frame. It has a fitted rear light and bottle holder. It also has a neoprene chain guard. It also has striking Hookworm tyres which contain the name on the sidewall of the tyre.

The police would especially like cycle shops and second-hand shops to be vigilant for the bike and call police if they are offered a bike similar to that taken.

Anyone able to help the police with their enquiries is asked to contact Frome police station on 101, quoting reference 85711/14. Alternatively you can let them know anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or report online: quoting the same reference.
