Frome community dining event enjoyed by all

Fair Frome was joined by over 50 people at Frome Football Club for lunch on Sunday 21st September.

At the ‘Community Dining’ event, funded by Somerset Community Foundation, those attending were served up a lunch of Lancashire hotpot and apple and blackberry crumble.

It was an opportunity for members of the community to come together and eat at a social event, which attracted people from one month to 92 years of age.

Fair Frome was joined by other organisations including Active and In Touch, the YMCA, Frome Day Centre, The Bridge Café, Routes Café, Mendip Community Credit Union and Frome Renewable Energy Co-op. Those having lunch were able to find out information about what these other organisations were offering within the community, and take part in an energy saving quiz.

Frome Football Club kindly offered the venue for free, and the in-house caterers provided a subsidised meal. A menu sheet was available so that people could use the menu at home and see the cost breakdown per portion to encourage healthy cooking on a budget.

The table flowers were donated by Grace Haskin at Bramble and Wild, who said, “I was more than happy to support this project which was about bringing the community together. It was good to be able to give Fair Frome the flowers to liven up the tables.”

Fair Frome was also supported by the Bridge Children’s Centre who provided toys for children to play with during the event.

Fair Frome will be working with Edventure to deliver the next ‘Community Dining’ event which is planned for late November/Early December.
