The Wheatsheaves will re-open its doors to the public under new management of Toby Prin and Lark Porter on Friday 5th December.

Expect a great wealth of entertainment from live bands and DJs, open mic and comedy nights, gaming evenings and just a good old space for a chinwag!

Toby and Lark said. “We plan to turn the Wheatsheaves in to a thriving social space offering a broad range of events. Focusing on opportunities for local artists, groups and organisers, we can create a much needed, and affordable centre for many people in Frome and the surrounding area.

“There is a gap in available spaces for entertainment and meetings; either venues have licence issues or attached costs are too high for low risk operations. Frome has a huge bank of unsatisfied artists and organisers waiting to blossom in the correct environment. This can be an even more wonderful place if all the walks of life can bring their ideas to reality.

“We aim to trade as a relaxed, homely and fun venue where big groups can meet for entertainment, drinks and food. We are aiming for the European relaxed approach to alcohol and part of our policy will be to discourage binge drinking. We hope that by entertaining our clients, we can distract their attention from the pint glass.

“We are currently looking to gain support from the wider community and local groups. We invite Frome to come forward with their ideas, please email wheatsheaves@hotmail.com if you have any thoughts, would like to propose an idea or are interested in a job.”

Lark has spent the last three years as venue manager in Komedia Bath, and previously worked in the West End and Bristol Zoo.

Toby has run regular events in Frome for 15 years including the Boxing Day events at the Cheese and Grain and many at the Griffin, while DJing at hundreds of other festivals and events such as Glastonbury, Boomtown and Shambala.

Between them, they hope to bring a long term and exciting venue to the Frome music scene.
