Free insulation and free Green Deal assessments for Frome

Frome and Somerset residents are being given the opportunity to improve their home for free, thanks to grant funding which is immediately available.

There has been a huge demand for assistance with the cost of insulating properties, so residents are being encouraged to act swiftly in order to benefit from the offer.

The Home Energy Team offer free and impartial energy saving advice and are on hand to give the latest information about the grants available. The offer means that any homeowner or privately-renting tenant in Frome, Bristol or Somerset will be able to have both loft and cavity wall insulation installed in their home, free of charge (subject to survey and funding availability)  making their home much warmer and cosier, and cutting their fuel bills.

Jamie Walters manages the Home Energy Team. He said, “This is a fantastic offer which will not only improve your home, making it more comfortable, but will also reduce your fuel bills. Having your home insulated can save you hundreds of pounds, and we know people have been waiting for this offer.”

Anna Francis, Frome Town Council’s energy officer added, “Insulation can make a huge difference to both comfort and bills. Offers like these generally go very quickly so I’d urge Frome residents to get in contact with CSE to find out more as soon as they can.”

The available funding is for cavity wall and loft insulation which tackle the problem of cold homes and excessive expenditure on fuel bills for Somerset residents. As an example, householders living in an average semi detached house could save £295 a year on their fuel bills.

CSE are also offering funding for 35 Frome residents to have free green deal assessments. The assessment will show the energy efficiency of your home, and will also look at the energy consumption that occurs in your property. This includes an Energy Performance Certificate – which is needed when you buy or lease a property or if you want to register for renewable energy subsidies.

The Home Energy Team can advise on both offers and also provides impartial energy saving advice.
