Frome Running Club have spring in their step at Longleat 10k

If you’re looking to run fast, where better to look for inspiration than Longleat, home to lots of animals that are well known for their speed.

So it was with a spring in their step that several Frome Running Club athletes made the short trip to Longleat for the annual 10k, one of the first local road races of the year.

This exceptionally hilly course doesn’t really lend itself to personal bests, and the strong wind blowing into the runners’ faces on the few downhill sections didn’t help much either. But nevertheless, several runners in red, yellow and black returned back over Somerset-Wiltshire border with some excellent times to their names.

First home for Frome and the first over-60 male overall was Ted Sprules (MV60) 43:14, followed by Nathaniel Collier (SM) 50:29, Zoe Boulton (SF) 50:32, Lynn Brand (FV50) 51:10 PB, Richard Tewkesbury (MV60) 54:24, Andrew Barton (MV40) 54:11, Adrian Mead (MV40) 56:04, Chapper Boulton (MV55) 56:39, Catharine Dowling (SF) 57:29, Dave Perrett (SM) 1:03:18, Tracy Carter (SF) 1:04:18 PB, Maxine Barton (FV40) 1:04:19, Karen Hobbs (SF) 1:04:35 PB.

Meanwhile, at Southwick Parkrun 5k, Graham Farley celebrated his first run in the MV50 category with 26:29.
