First performance for Sing Out choir

Rode and District Memorial Hall was packed on Saturday evening 18th April for the first real performance by the One Voice Community Choir (Rode branch).

Around 60 guests saw the group perform songs by Abba, Carole King, Barry Manilow and many more. The choir was supported by The Lee Ingram Quintet, who after a buffet supper played a selection of jazz standards.

Lee Ingram started the One Voice Community Choir in November 2013 in North Bradley, then later at Bulkington, Rode, Frome and Winsley.

One Voice is based on good, uplifting songs that everyone loves to sing – with a strong emphasis on fun and the social aspect. Some of the groups take place in the daytime and are therefore particularly good for retired people.

There are no auditions and an ability to read music is not required. Local meetings are at Rode chapel on Mondays, 7.00-9.00pm and Frome Cricket Club, Rodden Road, on Wednesdays, 2.00-4.00pm. Anyone interested should call Lee on 01373 825058 or 07766 244321 or visit www.onevoicechoir.co.uk
