Charity receives grant to trial video counselling

POSITIVE Action on Cancer (PAC) will soon begin trialling a new online counselling service to help those with mobility issues or time restraints.

The charity was recently awarded £9,970 to trial their online video link counselling service, which could see them offer remote face-to-face support.

PAC’s Hannah Culff said, “We know that sometimes, because of ill-health or caring duties or the extra time necessary to travel to one of our venues, people are unable to take up the counselling that would help them to face a really difficult time of their life.

“We believe that this  online service may especially help younger people or those with mobility issues; whether it will be temporary or otherwise, time will tell.”

The grant was given by Awards for All, for PAC to try counselling via Skype or  similar video calling software.

Awards for All is an application-based scheme run by the Big Lottery Fun UK, that can help organisations raise up to £10,000.

Positive Action on Cancer is a Frome-based charity that offers free professional one-to-one counselling service for anyone affected by a diagnosis of cancer or another life threatening illness. They strive to help any family, friends and carers as well as patients.
