The Granary transforms into Festival Green Room

A programme of exciting performances will take place every night during the Frome Festival at The Granary Club, the intimate venue at the rear of the George Hotel

The club, originally a grain store, seats 80 downstairs but has also has a balcony lounge where customers can listen, or stand and watch. The Frome Festival runs from Friday 3rd to Sunday 12th of July, and incorporates over 200 events at various venues around the town.

The performances in the Granary will take the form of a Festival Club, re- Christened ‘The Green Room’, allowing the audience to stay and relax to background music until midnight.  Ticket holders for each event and Frome Festival members will be welcomed to stay free of charge, where they can be joined by non-members for a £2.00 entry fee. It is hoped that the late opening will allow Festival goers to unwind after other performances around town.

Performers include singer and guitarist Elise Yuill on Saturday 4th July, after the Food Feast event in town. On Monday 6th, the club hosts the entertaining acoustic covers of Leonardo’s Bicycle;  followed on consecutive nights by the recreation of a Rag Time Prohibition speakeasy with the wonderful FB Pocket Orchestra; a satirical revue entitled ‘Where Are Those WMD’s?’ featuring TV political journalists Dan Glazebrook and Neil Clark and “lyrical genius” Clayton Blizzard;  the beautiful bluegrass trio Appaloosas; original Folk-Rock trio Foreign Affairs; Frome’s own ukulele orchestra The Frukes; and on Sunday 12th, the popular jazz band Geniology.

The hottest ticket however, is for the opening night, Friday 3rd July, with the reappearance of the fabulous female harmony trio from Amsterdam, Snowapple. Drawing on folk and classical influences Snowapple’s entertaining delivery was a sell- out hit at last year’s Festival. Advanced bookings for all events is recommended and can be bought in advance from the Festival Box Office at the Cheese and Grain hall. For timings see: www.fromefestival.com

The Green Room Club is hosted in collaboration with Frome FM who will be recording and broadcasting many of the events. This is an initiative by Frome Festival vice president Fred Rolfe, who organises events for the membership.

The Frome Festival is currently running a Festival 500 scheme to encourage more members to join. Members are entitled to earlybird tickets and invitations to many organised events year round. Further details are available from the Frome Festival office on 01373 453889.
