Frome’s own independent cinema has a one-off screening of ‘Open Bethlehem’ by Leila Sansour on Sunday 5th July. 

Open Bethlehem is a story of a homecoming to the world’s most famous little town. The film spans seven momentous years in the life of Bethlehem, revealing a city of astonishing beauty and political strife under occupation.

The film draws from 700 hours of original footage and some rare archive material…. While telling a personal story, the film charts the creation of a campaign to compel international action to bring peace to the Middle East.

Doors 8.00pm at the Westway Cinema, Cork Street, Frome (BA11 1BL) – followed by Q & A.

On Monday 6th July Flash Harry – a foot stomping, highly danceable set from the swamp lands of Louisiana to the hills of Kildare will be performing at The Wheatsheaves. 

With fiddle, guitar, sax and 4 part vocal harmonies, to take you on a rootsy mystery tour, featuring Frome’s own Vicki Burke. “Flash Harry have secret powers that lift your spirits and move your feet. The rhythms weave their magic as the instruments take you on a rootsy mystery tour.

“Strange tales unfold of mice and men, of hamsters and humans, of love and lust and joy and debauchery. Flash Harry are masters of their craft. Their music puts a smile on your face, sweat on your brow and stomp in your feet.”

Middle Eastern mezze platters and cake available for sale. All profits going to Palestinian charities.
