Frome company headed to Grand Designs Live

Frome company, Protomax Plastics, has been invited by TV Grand Designs’ presenter, Kevin McCloud, to be one of only eight Green Heroes at the Grand Designs Live 2015 exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham in October.

Kevin McCloud’s invite came during his surprise visit to Protomax on Vallis Mills Trading Estate when he was so impressed with the firm’s innovative recycling projects.

“Kevin hand picks the best eco-innovations for the Green Heroes platform at the NEC and we’re proud and absolutely delighted to be chosen this year,” said Protomax founder Nick Stillwell.

“It’s great for us in terms of recognition of our work and our products and it’s great for Frome and for potential jobs as the items are made and sold here.

“The eight Green Heroes have a beautiful exhibition area but it’s a tremendous coup for us. It adds credibility to our products and materials and gives us chance to explain what we do and display our products such as our garden furniture and raised beds.”

Protomax’s unique recycled plastic board is ideal for the building industry. It is hard wearing and weatherproof and even at end of life it is 100% recyclable into new board. It is more sustainable and is particularly seen as a credible alternative to plywood, chipboard and MDF.

The annual NEC exhibition, from October 8 – 11, brings together all stakeholders across every facet of design, build and product innovation.

“It’s hailed as the largest event dedicated to knowledge sharing, championing good practice and problem solving, and is a chance for the industry to look, talk, plan, learn and do business; and provide answers for what, when, where and how we build for the future,” said Nick.

Protomax will also be exhibiting at the FRECo One Planet Sunday event at the Cheese and Grain on 11th October, which will enable the community to invest in renewable energy projects in Frome.
