Frome Swimming Club needs you!

FROMESwimming Club is looking for new volunteers to help run the 138- year-old club.

The club is searching for people who can help organise and arrange transport to meets, and to help with publicising and encouraging engagement with the club.

Lead coach Susie Hanningfield said, “The club has been privileged over the years by  having  many parents, grandparents, siblings,  and friends all working alongside the coaches and teachers to ensure swimming is available and enjoyed for local children since 1877.

“We find ourselves at a very challenging time in the club’s history with many changes and challenges ahead.

“The club is working  with Fusion Lifestyle to secure a home for the  club’s training to take place for future generations. We are positive that the redevelopment of the facilities will be worth the three-month closure and will look forward to being back home at the site in early 2016.

“Volunteers are integral to the survival of the club.   Our unpaid, unsung heroes are part of the heart that makes Frome Swimming Club what it is today; a community. A community and club of swimmers that is continually developing  swimmers at all ages and levels.

“There have been low points for  the club recently with losing some of our swimmers,  their families and their volunteering  along the way.  These times are  important to the club as they highlight how we need to change, develop and seize  opportunities.

“Being a volunteer can be a mixture of both  highs and lows, hard work and great fun. The swimming club needs unpaid but greatly valued people to be  poolside helpers  that can  assist and support our coaches.

“We need people with organisational skills to help with swimming meets that take place locally, regionally and nationally;  skilled, qualified drivers who could help with transportation; IT skills and social media knowledge to keep our club out there; but most importantly people who want to help in their local community through  the love of sport and swimming.”
