Frome Running Club take on the Cardiff Half

Autumn is half marathon season, as runners take advantage of the cooler weather to try to clock up personal best times over the 13.1-mile distance.

Several athletes in red, gold and black made their way across the Severn Bridge into the Welsh capital for the Cardiff Half Marathon.

Kate Wareham (FV40) led the charge with 1:57:09, followed by Jo Riley (FV40) 1:57:29, Anne Porter (FV50) 2:01:33, Sara Elliott (FV50) 2:03:37, Catharine Dowling (SF) 2:03:37, Angela Smith (FV50) 2:07:43, Lynette Grimstead (FV40) 2:21:13,  Judith Beresford (FV50) 2:24:08, Jude O’Connor (FV40) 2:24:09, Dawn Prior (FV50) 2:27:35.

At the Cricklade Half Marathon, Wiltshire Road Race League points were up for grabs. Stuart Clarke (SM) notched up a new personal best of 1:29:27, while Graham Farley (MV50) finished in 2:09:04. The result leaves Frome Running Club A in sixth place in Division One with one race left to run, while the B team is in fourth place in Division Two.

Down in Bournemouth, there were personal bests in the half marathon for Nathaniel Collier (SM) 1:44:57 PB and Andrew Barton (MV40) 1:55:15 PB, while in the Bournemouth 10k, Maxine Barton (FV40) completed the course in 1:01:08.

At the Roundway Rampage trail event in Devizes, Fran Hunter (SF) led the Frome runners home with 59:04, followed by Emma Evans (FV40) 1:09:42.8.

Meanwhile, in round three of the Might Contain Nuts 10-Mile race, Laura Francis (SF) completed the course in 2:30:32.
