Inner Wheel Harvest supports the Alzheimer’s Association

THE Inner Wheel of Frome held its annual Farmers Market Festival & Auction at The Standerwick Conference Centre on Thursday 8th October, and raised over £850 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

President of the Frome Inner Wheel, Yvonne Covill, welcomed Amy Watkins and Laura Kelly, community fundraisers for Somerset & Dorset for the Alzheimer’s Society and 120 people to the ‘thanksgiving harvest festival.’

The evening was organised by Deanna Barnes and   Gwen Barnard  joint chairman and their committee, and raised £863.

Member of the Inner Wheel Gill Barnes said, “Rotarian Hilary Daniel conducted the service with readings from President Yvonne Covill  and a delightful harvest poem by Jonathon Cheal. The hymns were accompanied by Rotarian Kim Hyde.

“Amy Watkins addressed the congregation after the service and gave a very interesting talk about the  charity, and how the funds raised by the event would make such a huge difference.

“A delicious ploughman’s supper was served by Sally Gregory and her staff during the interval, before Rotarian Dennis Barnard skilfully managed to persuade the audience to part with their money as he auctioned all the magnificent selection of goodies that had been donated.

“Finally Laura Kelly gave a vote of thanks to everyone who had attended. The Inner Wheel Club of Frome would like to thank Cooper & Tanner Ltd and everyone who attended the service, making  the whole evening  a huge success and raising much needed funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.
