Big names coming to Frome

BIG names from the world of entertainment and sport are heading to Frome over the next few weeks.

Only Fools and Horses star John Challis, singer/songwriter Tom Robinson, one of the world’s top rock bands Wishbone Ash, 70s legends Bay City Rollers and five times World Darts Champion Raymond van Barneveld will all be appearing live during November and December.

Only Fools and Horses star John Challis and Tom Robinson have both spoken to Frome Times and are looking forward to visiting Frome.

John Challis will be performing at the Westway cinema on Sunday 15th November. He is familiar with Frome having family from the area and he spent some time here as a boy.

John said,  “I’m really looking forward to visiting Frome as people in the South West know how to have a good time. The Westway cinema is a really important part of Frome and has been for many years. I’m happy to support the Westway by playing there and hopefully it will last for many, many years.” Read his full interview on page 9.

Tom Robinson will be bringing his ‘Mighty Sword of Justice Tour’ to the Cheese & Grain on Thursday 12th November and Tom is looking forward to being back in Frome. “I can’t think of a better place – or venue – for the grand finale of my first band tour this century,” he told Frome Times. Classic British rockers Wishbone Ash will play at the Cheese & Grain this Saturday 7th November. Led by guitar pioneers Ted Turner and Andy Powell, who was voted one of Rolling Stone’s 20 greatest rock guitarists, the band will bring their own brand of rock back to Frome for the first time in two years. Best known for being one of the first bands to use twin lead guitars, they will be playing hits from their 46-year career.

Scottish pop sensation Bay City Rollers will then be playing the same venue on Friday 11th December.  The legendary Les McKeown and his band return to Frome due to unprecedented demand following their sensational show last year. Boasting 300 million worldwide record sales, Bay City Rollers will be playing songs from their huge back catalogue and aiming to recreate the ‘Rollermania’ of the 1970s right here in Frome.

Five times World Darts Champion Raymond van Barneveld will be taking on local darts players at  Frome Football Club on Friday 4th December. Doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 8pm. Limited tickets for the event are available at £15 from Frome Town FC (01373) 464087 and Paul Starr 07917 442054.
