A YOUNG man is preparing himself to face his biggest fear in order to raise money for a local cancer charity in memory of his grandmother.
Kyeron O’Conner from Newark-on-Trent will be doing a skydive from 15,000ft in memory of his grandmother, Janet Woods, who lived in Frome but sadly died in September from cancer.
Kyeron said, “My grandma was a very strong and caring person who loved helping others. She was the heart of the family and will be very sadly missed.
“I have chosen to do a skydive in memory of my lovely grandma to raise money for the wonderful charity Positive Action on Cancer. PAC is a charity which focuses on helping and supporting families affected by life-threatening illness. The money raised will also help PAC provide counselling for families, friends and carers as well as patients.
“Sadly my family and I have been through a very tough time due to losing our lovely and brave grandma. If my grandma was here now she would not believe I was going to jump from a plane. She would have never believed me in a thousand years, she would have been completely shocked and surprised. Hopefully my grandma will be looking down on me and make sure I am safe as I jump out of the plane.
“The skydive will be a huge challenge as I do have a massive fear of heights. I’m so nervous about doing it but I am willing to go through with it for such a good cause.”
Kyeron will be taking the leap of faith on 19th March next year and would like to raise £1,000 for PAC. To donate visit his fundraising page www.justgiving.com/kyeron
