Local Business Breakfasts ‘Keeping Frome Great’

Over 40 people attended  a business breakfast, hosted at Edventure and catered by Amy Macfadyen on Tuesday 1st December.

Laura Parry, on behalf of Frome Town Council said, “The discussion centred on ‘needs’, ‘shares’ and ‘gives’ –  what do we need to strengthen our business community, how can we support each other, and how we can contribute to making the town even greater.

“Some great ideas emerged: sharing training and expertise for e.g. stock control or marketing; having more forums to discuss how collectively to handle e.g. transport deficiencies and sourcing apprentices; offer mentoring and support to those entering or re-entering employment; helping to support the ‘richness’ of Frome as a place to live and work through investing in its creativity and infrastructure; need for fast broadband and for parking and premises.

“We also had a festive quiz – asking questions such as how many Frome people went to work on public transport (2.5%) and how many people in Mendip earn below the living wage (as defined by the living wage foundation) (33%). After a tie breaker, the prize went to Charlotte Fletcher of Hello PR & Marketing.”

The breakfasts, sponsored by the Frome Town Council and the Frome Chamber of Commerce, are a great way for individuals and organisations to meet, as well as engage and participate with what is going on in and around the town.

Representatives of any business based in Frome and the surrounding area are encouraged to attend and join this growing business community.

The cost is £10 and includes an excellent cooked buffet breakfast, complimentary tea, coffee and juice, with vegetarian and gluten-free options available.

The next breakfast will be held at the Archangel and will be an interactive session on social media for marketing, led by Jenna Yhearm of Gumption Agency.
