FROME Rotary Club will be holding the local heats of the national ‘Youth Speaks’ competition later this month.
The annual competition will be held at Standerwick Market on Thursday 28th January, from 6.30pm.
The public speaking competition is open to young people aged 11 to 17, and sees teams of three compete in a strictly timed topical presentation.
Organiser Andrew Lee said, “The Rotary Club of Frome has organised local heats for a number of years. We have several teams from Frome College, Oakfield and Selwood competing, and the event is always well attended by parents and other interested parties.
“The Mayor of Frome has agreed to be one of the judges and David Warburton MP has said he would like to come.”
The winner of the local heat will then progress to a district final, with the opportunity to move up to the regional and national finals.
