Lego building competition

Frome’s first community Lego Build for children will take place at Rook Lane Chapel on Saturday 18th March from 11am to 2pm.

Organiser and co-chair of the Friends of St John’s School, Nicki Grant says, “There will be competitions for the best unique build created out of the children’s own Lego bricks in three age categories: reception to year one; years two and three; and years four and five.

“Children can build anything they like but no pre-designed sets and each competitor may only bring enough to fill a large shoebox. Frome Model Centre will be on hand to judge the creations and there will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes within each category.

“Parents may help but the design must be led by the child! If your child would like to take part but doesn’t have enough Lego then there will be some bricks available to borrow if booked in advance.

“Every child will need a responsible adult with them at all times but there will be a chance for the adults to get involved, too, by taking part in a timed parents’ competitive build!

“Alongside the Lego competition there will be garden games, Duplo for younger siblings, a Lego-themed raffle and a fantastic cafe serving light lunches and snacks throughout the day.”

Places are limited, so competitors are encouraged to book early! Tickets cost £3 and are available from the Frome Model Centre at the top of Catherine Hill, and St John’s School on Christchurch St East.

The build is being run by the Friends of St John’s School with sponsorship from the Frome Model Centre and NVB Architects.
