Frome Outdoors will be holding some volunteer working groups this month and is appealing for people to join in and get their hands dirty.
Groups will be working on the Mount Community Garden, Sustrans cycle path, the river banks and the Roundhouse Garden, and more volunteers are wanted to help improve the town’s open spaces.
Organiser Sarah Russell said, “Doing active work outdoors is great for health, wellbeing and friendship, and at the same time improves open spaces for people, landscape and nature.
“There are several groups in and around Frome that rely upon volunteers to help with outdoor work. Frome Outdoors aims to put together everything that’s going on. Volunteers will need suitable clothing, work or gardening gloves and stout footwear, plus a drink and packed lunch if you intend to stay all day.”
April activities include:
• Light gardening at the Mount Community Garden on Feltham Lane every Thursday from 9.30am to 11am. Just turn up.
• Work on Sustrans cycleway – including cutting back vegetation, removing rails, building steps and benches, installing drainage etc. Most Fridays from 9am to 4pm. Call 01373 462549 for details.
