Lions’ Summer Fete will be a golden celebration

Frome Lions will hold their annual summer fete this Saturday, 10th June, at Victoria Park – and this year’s will be extra special with the club celebrating its ‘Golden anniversary’.

Frome Lions Club celebrates 50 years in 2017, and to mark the occasion, it helped fund improvements in Victoria Park. And the Fete will be your chance to see the official opening of the new picnic and play trail.

The fete will run from 12.30pm to 4pm and will have a huge range of activities for all the family.

Frome Lions press officer, Mark Symes said, “All the money raised at the fete will go to support local charities and good causes.

“There will be a selection of stalls, lots of entertainment including the ever popular Punch and Judy and a bouncy castle.

“The usual Lions train  will be giving rides around the park, and there will be a selection of refreshment stalls including the Lions’ Tea Tent with homemade cakes on offer, as well as burgers and hot dogs.”

Lion Roger Windley added, “The club celebrates 50 years in 2017, and funded the improvements to Victoria Park to mark the occasion. We wanted to invest in a legacy project for the town. The Lions’ summer fete is a real fixture in the Victoria Park calendar – and something that we’ve always enjoyed organising – so it was natural to look at the park when we started thinking about a project. And to focus on something that would be good for families and little ones living in Frome.”

This project – in the old pitch & putt area – will provide new opportunities for creative and free play; as well as much-needed seating in this part of the park.

The new play and picnic area will be officially opened at the Lions Summer Fete in the park on Saturday 10th June.
