Ten-hour sponsored piano marathon to build bridges for peace

PIANIST, Nick Petts, will undertake a 10-hour sponsored piano-playing marathon to raise money for the Frome-based charity Building Bridges for Peace. Everyone is invited to come along to the day of music and song at Selwood Academy on Saturday 1st July.

Each hour, from 11.00am to 9.00pm, he will play a different type of music, accompanied by other musicians and singers. There will be snacks and drinks available all day. Entrance is £5 or by sponsoring Nick, and it’s free for children.

“We’ve got a wonderful programme,” said Nick, “with everything from classical cello and clarinet pieces, to humorous songs, the Beatles, a Latin hour and we’ll end with a band joining me for a big sing-a-long session, which everyone can join in. This is the fifth piano marathon I’ve done and it’s a brilliant way to raise money for a good cause and to have a fun day too. The more people who come the merrier – all are welcome!”

Jo Berry, who set up the charity says, “Building Bridges for Peace works to enable divided communities and the general public to explore and better understand the roots of war, terrorism and violence. We promote dialogue and mediation as the means to peace.”

If you are unable to come to the event, you are still able to sponsor Nick or to donate to the charity. Go to the website to see how to donate and for a full updated programme for the day.
