Yeovil 1st XI – 170-6 off 45 overs. Frome 1st XI- 171-4 off 29.5 overs. Frome 1st XI won by 6 wickets.

Frome move joint top of the table with their third victory in a row as they comfortably beat Yeovil by 6 wickets.

Yeovil elected to bat first as they looked to put pressure onto Frome with rain around. Captain Gundry hit three early boundaries to get Yeovil going, however he lost both partners Watts (1) and Hurlock (2) to leave the hosts in early trouble at 22-2.

The third wicket partnership rebuilt the innings with Gundry and Ford taking the score to 57 before a fantastic catch from Croker helped remove the Yeovil skipper for 32. Ford followed straight after, which left the hosts 4 down with just 57 on the board.

This brought Legg to the crease and he looked to attack the Frome bowlers and get Yeovil back on track. Shortly after drinks, Legg looked to take on Lett and hit two sixes in a row, however the third ball saw an end to Legg’s innings, falling L.B.W to Lett for 42.

This allowed Frome to keep the runs down in the second half of the Yeovil innings with captain Mark Sanger leading, as his 9 overs went for just 16 runs.

McCabe batted well scoring 46 not out to help Yeovil recover and post 170 for the loss of 6 wickets at the end of their 45 overs.

In reply Frome got off too a strong start, with Lett and Paul Sanger continuing their fine opening partnership run of scoring a 50 partnership in every game this season.

Both openers made the most of some loose bowling and brought up the 100 partnership in the 18th as Frome were going along perfectly in their hunt to chase 170. The partnership was eventually broken by Mitchell when he removed Lett for 80, however the damage had been done with Frome needing just 40 to win from 17 overs.

Frome lost a couple of wickets in quick timing, including Sanger for a well made 46. It was left to Joe Smart to hit the winning runs as Frome claimed a convincing 6 wicket victory with 7 overs remaining as they go joint top of the table.

Next week Frome host Taunton St Andrews II as they look to continue their run and end the first half of the season strong, the match will begin at 1.30pm.
