Free family play sessions at the HUBnub Centre this summer

Childs Play Clubs UK are opening their out-of-school-club at the HUBnub Centre this September and to celebrate, they are hosting open days on the 2nd, 5th and 22nd of August from 12 until 3pm. (Children will need to be accompanied by and adult.)

There will be group games, arts and crafts, music making and the chance for children to explore wherever their play takes them.

Vin Callan, manager at the out-of-school club, is new to Frome and is passionate about play. He has a 6-year-old daughter, and over 20 years’ extensive playwork experience.

“As a working parent myself, I understand there is a real need in Frome for high quality and convenient out-of-school care that meets the needs of parents and their children,” he said.

“I’m really excited about opening an out-of- school club that is child led, and focuses on children exploring play in their own way. Children’s play and empowering children is something I’ve always been passionate about. I’m looking forward to bringing new play experiences to the children and families of Frome!”

The after-school club offers places for children aged 4-11 years old, between 3.00pm and 6.15pm, Monday to Friday. As well as offering a wide range of play opportunities and activities, a healthy snack will be provided each day.

There will be a walking pick-up service for children attending Vallis First School, and this service will be also offered to other schools in the area depending on demand.

On basing the club at the HUBnub Centre Vin says, “It’s such a vibrant, welcoming and bright space, providing lots of opportunities for indoor and outdoor play. Ed and Io, the owners, are wonderful. They are passionate about it being a place where people feel they belong and where they can play, learn and work alongside each other, making it the perfect space for us. The first time I walked into the building I could instantly visualise it being a place where children will lots have fun!”

At the open days, there will also be the opportunity for parents to find out more and register their children with the out-of-school club.

If you can’t make it to any of the summer play sessions, but would like to register for the after-school club, don’t worry, you can contact Vin on 07460 253888 or email him at ukchildsplay@ gmail.com
