Frome’s independent bookshop, Winstone’s Hunting Raven Books, is a treasure trove of literature throughout the year.  At Christmas old favourites, along with the classics and current bestsellers, compete for everyone’s attention. 

In the hectic run-up to Christmas, as shopping days are crossed-off calendars, let Winstone’s Hunting Raven Books help with gift ideas and choices. Its knowledgeable staff are not only willing to offer advice and make recommendations, but have chosen a wonderful selection of Twelve Books for Christmas as a special seasonal promotion.

Books to share with young book lovers that explain the world, past and present (Here We Are by Oliver Jeffers, or Dinosaurium by Lily Murray) as well as welcoming readers to the lands of myths and make believe (The Norse Myths by Kevin Crossley-Holland, or One Moonlit Night by Susanna Davidson).  Each book is richly illustrated and alive with entertaining text.

For adults, award-winning writers: Penelope Lively, Arundhati Roy and Andy Weir, current political concerns (Goodbye Europe) and the invitation to indulge in a year of classical music, Year of Wonder by Clemency Burton-Hill are included in this special offer.

The Cheap Street shop stocks almost 9,000 titles, with thousands more available to order overnight and many delightful book related gifts, greetings cards, giftwrap, calendars and diaries.

Winstone’s Hunting Raven Books also continues to support Frome’s talented authors by hosting them at the shop over each weekend in December.

Laurence McJannet, Julian Hight and Victoria Hillman spent time at the shop over the first busy weekend of December. Barbara Spencer, Kate Lynch, Matthew Harffy, Suzy Howlett, Annette Burkett and Kate Maryon will all visit over the following weekends including Saturday 23rd December. So many opportunities to talk with authors about their books and even purchase signed copies of their books.

    I must say, as a lot as I enjoyed reading what you had to say, I couldnt help but lose interest after a while.
