Homeless charity thanks students for donations

Cathy Adcock from Julian House in Bath visited Frome College on 14 December to thank Hypatia House students for all their donations given to the homeless at Christmas.

Cathy’s talk in the Merlin Theatre, was assisted by College IT technician, Will Angeloro, who set up the song ‘People Help the People’ by Birdie on the stage to set the scene for the assembly.

“Christmas can be an especially challenging time for those less fortunate than ourselves, and for those who do not have welcoming homes to go to,” said Jane Davis. “Students donated lots of basic essentials needed in everyday life such as – toothpaste, toiletries, cereals, tea, coffee, sugar, etc – to the residents of Julian House.”

Cathy said “Homelessness is increasing in the UK in general and any gifts, however small, are truly appreciated.  When the homeless people at Julian House ask where the gifts come from, I will be able to say that this is due to the kindness and support of the students at Frome College.”

Mr Curtis, teacher of Maths and a tutor in Hypatia House, thanked Cathy for visiting the College and hoped that this project could be supported in future years.
