Local children create art for outdoor gallery project

Youngsters from Christ Church C of E First School have created artwork which is now on display at the new David Wilson Homes development in Frome.

Pupils made art for the windows of homes at Aldhelm Court so they could take part in the brand-new event called Window Wanderland, which took place at the weekend.

Window Wanderland saw residents and businesses create fun window displays which people could walk round and explore as an ‘outdoor gallery’. David Wilson Homes supported the event as both a sponsor and participant.

The housebuilder involved local youngsters in its window designs as part of its ongoing educational programme.

Pupils from Christ Church C of E First School worked with David Wilson Homes to create displays across a range of themes linked to the local area.

The children picked Frome landmarks like the Blue House, Catherine Hill and Cheap Street, as well as dairy farm animals and meadows to mark aspects of the town’s history in the artwork.

Rupert Kaye, Christ Church C of E First School headteacher said, “The children couldn’t wait to show family, friends and the local community their artwork on display at David Wilson Homes’ Aldhelm Court development.

“They did lots of research into the history of Frome and enjoyed finding out about where they live.”

Louise Ware, sales director at David Wilson Homes, said, “We hope everyone enjoyed seeing all the hard work pupils from Christ Church C of E First School put into the windows at Aldhelm Court.

“They’ve done an excellent job at capturing the history and community spirit of Frome – the windows are so bright and colourful!”

The housebuilder also funded the creation of maps so that people could see where the window displays were. It also encouraged residents to decorate their windows to take part too.

“Window Wanderland is such a fantastic initiative, encouraging people to get out and explore their communities.

“We’re absolutely delighted to not only take part but also to help sponsor the event,” said Louise.
