Frome woman wins Hello! magazine’s ‘Star Mum’ award

FROME mum, Lisa Wells, was awarded Hello! magazine’s ‘Star Mum ‘award at an awards ceremony held at London’s Dorchester Hotel, on Thursday 8th March.

The awards were held to recognise a diverse range of women – both celebrity and non-celebrity – who have taken the time to give back to their families and society, and award them by giving them the opportunity to live like a celebrity for the day.

Lisa has terminal liver and bowel cancer, diagnosed shortly after giving birth to her second daughter. Lisa is mum to Ava Lily, 5, and Saffia who is only a few months old. She has been given months to live, yet hasn’t let this stop her from fundraising to leave behind a legacy for her daughters and spread awareness of her condition.

The winner was decided by an all-celebrity judging panel of Binky Felstead, Kimberley Walsh, Kate Silverton, Izzy Judd and Anna Whitehouse, also known as the popular mummy blogger, Mother Pukka.

Lisa was rewarded with an overnight stay at The Dorchester Hotel with a guest, an invitation to the awards, a makeover, a new outfit and treated to a waiter service and three-course meal.

On receiving the award, Lisa said, “It was so exciting! I didn’t even know i’d been nominated and then I was told I was in the top five, just a couple of weeks ago. So within ten days I was told I’d been nominated and won! My mum and I were taken there and stayed in the Dorchester. It was amazing, it was just so lovely. Everyone was so kind and really overwhelming.”
