A warm welcome awaits at new-look pub, The Moon

THE MOON, formerly The Full Moon, in Rudge has been undergoing changes since its recent purchase by successful publicans Mark Hey and Liz Chamberlain.

The duo, who also own the award-winning The Sheppey Inn near Glastonbury, have been sprucing things up in the rural village pub by putting in artwork, craft beers, bio-dynamic wine and incorporating a Mediterranean tapas menu.

The Moon’s tapas menu is very market-dependent, including freshly-caught fish daily from Brixham, with razor clams, fresh swordfish, mussels and sardines on the menu most weeks.

Their influences draw from Italy, Spain as well as North Africa and the Middle East. You can expect Mediterranean flatbreads with a choice of toppings including lamb and chilli, garlic wild mushroom or watercress and olives.

There are lots of favourites on the tapas menu with rioja meatballs and manchego  croquettes; with prices ranging from £3 to £7.

Mark Hey said, “There’s a lot planned for The Moon in the future, with some major works later in the year that will turn the function room into a open kitchen, with wood-fired ovens and grills, smokery, and family-friendly outside area. We also have seven hotel rooms and the facilities for weddings and parties for around 120 guests.”

The Moon is open Wednesday-Saturday from 3pm for drinks and 6pm for food.
