Pub owner presents £800 cheque to Frome Boxing Club

THE owner of The Old Bath Arms, Richard Findlay, has presented Frome boxer, Ryan Wheeler, with a cheque for £800, money Richard raised during his charity boxing match last month.

In total, Richard raised £1,600 through sponsorship, and donated the other £800 to the children’s cancer charity, CLIC Sargent.

Richard took to the boxing ring during Frome’s Fight Night, on Friday 6th April, facing opponent Kristian Carpenter, where  Richard lost. Prior to the fight, Richard had been receiving coaching from the ‘Somerset Stallion’ Ryan Wheeler, a currently undefeated professional boxer,  at Trainstation gym.

However, despite Rich-ard’s loss, the real winner were the children. The £800 donated by Richard to  Frome Boxing and Fitness Academy will be used to introduce more children to the sport at a junior level.

Ryan Wheeler said, “A massive thank you to Richard Findlay from The Old Bath Arms in Frome who has raised funds for Frome Boxing and Fitness Academy. We can now order more boxing equipment for our kids’ boxing classes.

“Massive respect to Richard and everybody who donated. This will make a massive difference to people’s lives.”
