Bring your treasures to Frome Museum!

FROME Heritage Museum is inviting you to bring along your treasures to its ‘Finds Day’ this Saturday, 4th August.
Organisers say, “Bring in your coins, medals, fossils, archaeological finds and other paraphernalia to be identified and recorded.
Finds liaison officer from Somerset County Council, Laura Burnett, is particularly interested to see and record antique items people have found in their gardens, fields or other sites in and around Frome
“Offering his expert opinion on coins and medals is David Robinson. Most of us have old coins rattling around the house – now is your chance to bring them out and find out their provenance! Coins find their way into people’s possession in all sorts of ways; for example, they might find, inherit or purchase them. The coins might be very old or quite new and may come from far flung places across the world. They might not even prove to be a coin at all!”
The museum also wants to hear from people whose ancestors were in the Frome area during WW1. Organisers say, “If you have some family stories to share please come in and tell us or make an appointment for another day.”
Entry is free and refreshments are available. Donations are gratefully received. The ‘Finds Day’ takes place this Saturday, 4th August, and the museum will be open from 10am to 3pm.
