New Frome calendar launched

An exciting new Frome calendar is being launched by a new creative collective in the town.

The Frome 2019 calendar is the brainchild of Postscript in Stony Street, Dawn Denton who runs the online Frome Diary and local photographer and writer Mark Brookes.

Avoiding the traditional ‘picture postcard’ look of most calendars, the Frome calendar centres on more alternative images of the town in a stylish collage format, with added historical facts and local artwork. Each page has been sponsored by a local Frome venue acknowledging the vibrant arts scene in Frome and the part that these venues play in the town.

Garry Yoxall from Postscript said, “We had been thinking about producing a calendar for Frome for some time and when Mark and Dawn walked in with the same idea, we realised that we now had a team that could pull the idea together and make it happen. This calendar will be the first in a new range of Frome-based projects. It’s all very exciting.”

For Mark and Dawn, the project was a logical extension of their own freelance businesses. Dawn’s ‘Frome Diary’ website has been going from strength to strength, becoming the go-to resource for up-to-date information on what’s happening in the town.  Mark, who recently returned to the world of professional photography following a long break, needed an outlet for his more unconventional images of the town and the events that take place. Until now his calendar work had been very traditional, so this project enabled him to look at things in a different way.

The calendar was officially launched at the October Frome Independent market on Sunday and is now available from Postscript and various outlets in the town.
