FROME author, Joffre White, was chosen to represent the charity Achievement For All, at the ICAP Charity Day in London on Wednesday 5th December.

The charity day by ICAP, the world’s largest inter-dealer broker,  was across 18 office locations across the world. Participants spent 24 hours raising money, with all profits and brokers’ commission donated directly to charitable causes.

The charity day, now in its 26th year, has raised over £140million across the world.

There were 17 UK charities that benefitted from the day including Achievement For All, of which Frome local Joffre White is a patron.

Achievement for All is a leading not-for-profit organisation that works in partnership with early years settings, schools and colleges, improving outcomes for all children and young people vulnerable to underachievement, regardless of background, challenge or need.

Joffre actively promotes the importance of reading, literacy and creative writing by visiting primary and secondary schools, colleges, libraries and events in the UK to excite and energise young people’s imagination and interest in the power of words.

Joffre was joined by fellow patron and ex-Paralympian, Kate Grey, as well as brushing shoulders with a whole host of famous faces including the Duchess of Cornwall, Nicky Clarke, Keith Lemon and more.

Joffre said, “I usually keep my head down in terms of my work but when I was asked to represent the charity, I didn’t know what to expect. I usually keep away from the national position but it was completely surreal, I even got put first class on the train and picked up in a Mercedes!”

“The Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla Parker-Bowles was there, along with loads of other celebrities. It was a rollercoaster ride, but just amazing.”
