Fair Frome needs your help

Story posted on

Local charity Fair Frome, which provides services to those in acute need, is looking for new trustees.

Fair Frome runs the local Food Bank, the Furniture Bank, Community Lunch and Holiday Hunger events and other services designed to provide practical support to meet basic needs and to promote community cohesion.

Fair Frome also speaks out against inequality and have campaigned for the Living Wage,  Access for All and other issues which have an adverse impact upon local people. Fair Frome is currently receiving an unprecedented demand for all their services, especially the Food Bank, and are about to embark on an ambitious new range of programmes and activities to meet those growing needs.

Bob Ashford the chair of trustees for Fair Frome said, “Fair Frome continues to go from strength to strength thanks to its committed staff, volunteers, trustees and the very generous people of Frome.

“Frome is a relatively prosperous place, but many people in work and out of work struggle to make ends meet. Working with other charities, voluntary organisation and the statutory sector, we continue to build our services to try to meet some of those needs. We now need more trustees to help us achieve that aim.

“We are especially looking for people with accountancy experience or experience with social media.

“Trustees meet formally on a monthly basis to oversee the work we do, and staff and budgets etc. Trustees though are also volunteers and get involved in helping to run our events and fund raising etc. We don’t just need people with ideas, we need people who are prepared to help with the practical work needed to put those ideas into action.

“We are also especially keen to recruit people as trustees who may have experienced some difficulties in their own lives or be close to people that have. In this way we hope to get a better understanding of the needs of people who use our services so that we can improve them.”

Fair Frome would like to hear from all those interested before the 9th  February. Please send a brief (no more than one side of A4) letter (not a CV) setting out your experiences and why you think they would lend themselves to becoming a Fair Frome trustee.

If you are interested please email info@fairfrome.org headed “Trustee Vacancy’ with your letter. More information on the work of the charity can be found http://fair frome.org/.

If you are interested but unsure or need any help understanding the role or with your application, please email  info@fairfrome.org

not really Fair Frome; just wanting to congratulate Bob on giving evidence to the Supreme Court about disclosure of historic minor offences. I know a number of people who have had this problem.
