Mells Daffodil Festival 2019

Story posted on

Mells Daffodil Festival is back on Easter Monday, 22nd April.

2019 will be the 40th Daffodil Day, so it’s a special one for the event.

“We’ll be channelling all things 1979 in celebration of our anniversary, with a seventies fancy dress competition and a disco theme,” say the organisers. “We’re also planning an exhibition showing the history of Daffodil Day, and bringing back the tradition of crowning a Mells Daffodil King & Queen.

“It’s a late Easter this time, so we hope the weather will be kinder than 2018 when weeks of rain rendered our parking field unusable.

“We’re hoping ITV weather presenter Alex Beresford, who is opening the event for us, will predict plenty of sunshine.

“The usual exciting programme of events will see the whole village transformed to make it a fun and exciting day out for all the family. All the money raised goes to community groups in the village.

“The event regularly attracts around ten thousand people. In order to reduce problems with traffic and parking, this year once again we will be running free buses from Frome and Radstock. Tickets are just £3 for adults and £1 for children.”
