Starring role for active Frome Town Rotary

FROME Town Rotary were filmed by Rotary UK last month undertaking a number of community activities to help promote a new project called Rotary2, to change people’s perceptions of what a Rotary club is.

President Andrew Lee said, “As part of an initiative to increase numbers in Rotary they have developed a project called Rotary2.  The idea is that instead of inviting people to join existing clubs, which are perceived by the public to be predominantly old, grey-haired men, they are setting up new more flexible clubs with less formality.  Frome Town Rotary is the first of its kind in the country.

“Rotary UK want to promote the idea and they sent a film crew to Frome to film the group in action. To give a flavour of the community work Frome Town Rotary does they were filmed undertaking a number of community activities.

The group has agreed to support Harry’s Hydro by painting their building so they were filmed making a start.  They were also filmed litter picking on the banks of the River Frome and with the Frome Falcons Powerchair  football club, for whom they have funded the cost of a powerchair.

“The film will be used to encourage the formation of new clubs throughout the UK.”

Frome Town Rotary meets twice a month.  It is  a social group, open to anyone who also wants to put something back into the community and have fun doing it. For further information please contact  andrewlee64@btinternet.com

Harry’s Hydro said, “It is great news that Frome will feature in the national Rotary film.

“Harry’s Hydro really appreciate the practical help which is saving the charity hundreds of pounds in labour costs. We also thank the paint supplier Morrells for their support.”
