GPs’ invitation to hear patients’ feedback

Story posted on

Patients at the Frome Medical Practice are being invited by the GP partners of the practice to attend an open forum at the Frome Health Centre building at Enos Way on Wednesday 5th June.

Practice staff want patients to be given the opportunity of relating and sharing their individual patient experience at their surgery.

“Over the last 18 months there have been big changes to how we operate,” says practice manager Karen Creffield. “These changes have included the introduction of both in person and digital support programmes to support those with or at risk of diabetes. We have also introduced a new community services desk in the practice to help further promote support services in the community.

“Two new mental health practitioners have been appointed to improve support for patients in those areas. Additionally, as many of our patients will already know, we also introduced a new appointments system 18 months ago called Patient Connect, a system that we are constantly reviewing. Successful changes have included the availability of more online booking slots to arrange call backs. We are also working hard on reducing call waiting times on busy days.

“As a practice, we have always tried to listen to what our patients are telling us so that we can then improve our level of service. Some of the actions that we have taken have proved a real success, but we are also well aware that there are still some areas where we need to work on. By listening to what our patients have to tell us with their own patient experiences, they can then help us shape their practice for the future.”

Chris Simpson, the chair of the practice’s Patient Participation Group and other members of the group will play an active role in the evening. In addition, GP partners and other practice staff will be present, as well as a representative from the Health Connections.

The event on Wednesday 5th June is being held at the Education Suite from 6.30pm to 8pm. There is no need to book and the event is of course without charge.
